Established in New York in 2005, Ilene Wetson Art & Design, Inc. has been commissioned for a wide variety of projects in New York City, the Hamptons, Palm Beach, Greenwich, Italy and London. Ilene’s warm, dedicated work style enables her to work closely with clients to better understand and accomplish their design goals. Ilene Wetson Art & Design provides design services ranging from commercial spaces to both modern and historic apartments, lofts and expansive suburban homes. The New York City decorator offers distinctly classic taste and chic sophistication to residential decoration and interior design. She has a cultured understanding and appreciation of both contemporary and classic style. Ilene’s goal is to achieve great design that showcases each client’s taste and lifestyle.
Ilene has being working in the design field for more than 40 years. Born in New York to a creative designer mother, Ilene was raised in a world of Scalamadre fabrics, downtown antique shops, auction houses and flea markets. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Ilene worked for two internationally renowned avant garde designers, David Barrett and Jay Specter. She started her own business, Ilene Wetson, Inc., in 1974. Than in 1979, she also became involved with her brother-in-law’s legendary contemporary furniture manufacturing business, Karl Springer LTD., where she learned how to manufacture, buy and develop new products as well as design showrooms around the world. In 1991, Ilene Wetson, Inc. decorated Donna Karan’s East Hampton home, which was featured in shelter magazines across the country. In 1992, Ilene joined Peter Marino and Associates, where she was a core member of his design team and Project Manager, at the helm of unique projects around the world until 2005, when Ilene set out on her own again to form Ilene Wetson Art & Design. She has carved out a niche decorating family residenlces, lobbies of co-op buildings and model apartments in multiple settings. Ilene is a visionary and an invaluable collaborator with clients, architects, contractors and specialized tradesmen.
Ilene serves on the Board of The Decorators Club, has co-chaired the Silent Auction and Journal Committee at The Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club annual Show House and has been involved with Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club as a Trustee. She is one of the 200 Lex Access to Design designers and a member of ASID.
